Our Philosophy
Our aim is to provide holistic, individualised care for our residents within a safe, relaxed, happy and homely environment.
Our residents are always treated with dignity and respect, and their right to privacy, choice and fulfilment is always recognised.
We strive to include families and friends, thereby, giving them the peace of mind that their loved one is safe and well cared for.

Daily Life

We help residents to continue to enjoy as wide a range of individual and group activities and interests as possible both inside and outside the Home and to carry on with existing hobbies, pursuits and relationships, and to explore new avenues and experiences. We encourage our residents to maintain contact with friends as much as possible and indeed to make new ones. Many of our residents are from the local area and the Home benefits from a steady stream of visitors on most days.
Local amenities are only a short walk from the Home and include shops, cafes, pubs, a library and a beautiful park is directly opposite.
Dining
At St Andrew’s we recognise that meal times are a very important part of the day as they are both sociable and stimulating times. We have our own cook who prepares home cooked, appetising and nutritious meals daily. There is a varied, seasonal menu which is designed to meet all dietary requirements and also caters for our residents’ preferences. All our fresh produce is sourced from local suppliers.
Staff and residents eat together, extending our ‘family feeling’ but meals can be served in a resident’s room if they prefer. Visitors are welcome to have a meal with their relative.
Apart from the three main meals of the day, residents are served morning coffee & biscuits and afternoon tea with homemade cakes. Drinks, fresh fruit and snacks are always freely available.

Activities and entertainment
We create a varied weekly activity programme which is person centred and enhances our resident’s daily living. We encourage social interaction and we pride ourselves that we take time to talk with our residents and their families to find out about their lives prior to joining us at St Andrew’s and structure our entertainment accordingly. An example of our activities includes visits from musicians/sing-a-longs, choirs, dance and keep fit classes and reminiscence therapy.
In addition to this, we take time to sit and chat or reminisce with our residents and we have little quizzes, film nights & TV, board games etc. The list is limitless, from pet therapy to planting sunflowers, from mosaic art to a visit from Father Christmas!
We take residents out to the local shops, library, garden centres, coffee/public houses etc whenever it is possible to do so. We are lucky enough to be situated opposite a beautiful park and we are only a short drive away from Waterperry Gardens and local ‘open farms’ which we like to take advantage of in the good weather.
Everyone’s birthday is celebrated in the traditional way and other special occasions are always an excuse to have a party to which everyone is welcome.
Newspapers, magazines, fresh fruit and snacks are available throughout the Home daily.
The Home can arrange visits from ministers of any denomination upon request.

Facilities

The communal areas of St Andrew’s encompass a lounge, a dining room & kitchenette and we have two conservatories. There is a very pretty, secure garden with various seating areas dotted throughout, lots of bird tables and feeders and for our green fingered residents there are areas where we can help them ‘potter’ and grow a few vegetables or flowers.
Residents rooms are attractively decorated and furnished and we encourage residents to personalise their own rooms with some of their own belongings. We have 24 rooms in total.
A hairdresser and a podiatrist/chiropodist regularly come to the Home.
